Nutrition Info: Calories in Ban Mian
Posted on | August 13, 2012 | No Comments
Ban mian is a dish containing handmade noodles served in soup. The fragrant soup is made from a rich fish stock containing anchovies, onions, garlic, ginger and spices. As well as the ban mian noodles and rich soup, the meal is served with some variety of meat (minced pork) or fish (fresh or fried) and vegetables. The final finishing touch is an egg cracked into the hot soup, and stirred to cook through placing a spoon of fried anchovy (ikan bilis) on top.

Overall this is quite a healthy hawker choice. The healthiest way to order this dish is with fresh sliced fish, half portion or ban mian, vegetables and don’t add any fried anchovy on top.
My final tip, to be remembered every time your eat is: Eat slowly, put your utensils down between bites and always stop when you feel 80% full because it’s better to waste it than to ‘waist’ it. Enjoy!
