Nutrition Info: Calories in Frozen Yoghurt

Frozen yoghurt! Looks like ice-cream!

What is Frozen yoghurt:  Frozen yoghurt is considered as a type of DESSERT.   While it carries the name ‘yoghurt’, it truly is much more like a soft serve ice-cream.  It varies a little slightly as it is generally lower in fat (due to milk being used instead of cream) and is slightly more sour.  Therefore, if you eat frozen yoghurt frequently and it’s sweet – that means it’s loaded with sugar!

To manufacture a product that appears frozen but yet is still soft enough to be pumped through a machine it contains stabilizing agents, gums, preservatives and other manufacturing secret ingredients!  Don’t forget, it will most probably have artificial colours and flavours added too!   So yes, frozen yoghurt is some what better than soft serve ice-cream – but not by too much!

Please use this as an AVERAGE guide to all brands of frozen yoghurt:

Portion: 120ml (80g)

Portion: 200ml (100g)

So, please don’t go nuts over eating too much frozen yoghurt – think of it like ice-cream and have it as a healthier dessert option occasionally rather than a lunch time snack!  If you like yoghurt daily, try to buy a more natural alternative from the dairy section at your supermarket.

Enjoy!
