This is not a promotion… this is an “oh my god” moment.  As if super sizing meals and add-ons (drinks / fries / onion rings / desserts) weren’t enough – Burger King (in Japan only) have launched The Meat Monster Burger.   A burger packed with 2 beef patties, 1 chicken fillet, 3 bacon rashers, 2 slices of cheese (and I’m sure sauce, salad, all the normal accompaniments and served on 2 white buns) but holy moly – talk about a free ticket to high cholesterol and heart disease for only $10.

This burger alone is reported to contain 1166 Calories, 69 grams of fat (24 g Saturated), 13 g sugar and 1.5 g Trans fat.  It also contains more salt than 4 bags of crisps.

What does that mean: It’s got nearly the whole daily allowance of calories (energy) for a woman.  More than double the daily fat allowance (recommended is 30g).  More than 3 teaspoons of sugar. And fat that is going to clog your arteries and cause high cholesterol.

It seems the Meat Monster is the most recent of their ‘heart attack’ burgers launched by BK following their Pizza Burger (4 whopper burgers with pepperoni, mozzarella, pesto sauces on a 9 ½ inch bun) that contains 2520 Calories.  Calorie wars seem to be the latest trend with KFC stepped up with the Double Down Burger which has 2 fried chicken breasts, bacon and 2 slices of cheese (464 calories).

Keep in mind – these nutrition values are only for the burger alone – no fries or drinks or other sauces are included yet.

Health Guru Advice:  RI-DIC-U-LOUS. Please be horrified.  It’s just not worth it.  You only get one life, live it well.

Can someone please remind these fast food chains there is an obesity pandemic out there.  Please help, not encourage.

1. McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder – 852 Calories, 53.4g fat (27.9g saturated).

2. Hungry Jack’s Ultimate Double Angus – 845 Calories, 57.2g fat (26g saturated).

3. Hungry Jack’s Angry Angus Double – 783 Calories, 52.1g fat (21.2g saturated).

4. McDonald’s Mighty Angus – 686 Calories, 35.7g fat (16.9g saturated).

5. KFC Zinger Works Burger – 567 Calories, 23.2g fat (9.5g saturated).
