Gold Coast Cup Outrigger Race, 2010.

This weekend I’ll be heading down to Queensland, Australia to take part in the Gold Coast Cup. It’s a 43km paddling race in outrigger canoes. The event begins down on the New South Wales border at Coolangatta and we paddle north up the coast finishing at Surfers Paradise.
Our team has put in a lot of hard training over the last few months. We’ve endured cyclonic paddling conditions, scorching heat, tropical storms and freak waves. We’ve dodged in and out around barges, container ships & ferries trying to cross the channel. There’s been sunburn, bruises, blisters, broken ribs, sore everything and many jelly fish stings. And now it’s time for the real fun to begin.
I have a few small personal goals I want to achieve: I want to finish the race hard & strong, I want to make every change and I don’t want to get eaten by a shark. That’s all.
Wish me luck!
