It’s better to waste it than to ‘waist’ it

I heard a fantastic saying yesterday:  It’s better to waste it than to ‘waist’ it

This remains the biggest challenge I face.  I hate to waste food.  I always admire those that can leave the most delicious food on their plate simply because they are ‘just right’

I blame this on my mother!  (sorry ma xx) I’m sure with best intentions she made us finish everything on our plate, but in adult life that is coming back to haunt me (and I’m sure I’m not alone).   I am however so grateful to her that I am not a fussy eater, but it takes alot of effort to not eat everything.

But trust me – I’m not a victim.  I try to order smaller portions or entrees only, I frequently share meals & when choosing portions for myself – I’ll only place items on my plate that I know I’ll finish (I’m not one to load up the food like a mountain on the plate).

But I’ve decided to remind myself of this new motto at all times:  It’s better to waste it than to ‘waist’ it.  Because it certainly is better left on my plate than being delivered straight to my hips.
