Happy Hari Raya Haji – I’m off to Penang

Posted on | November 26, 2009 | No Comments

Yes, I’m braving the mass exodus out of Singapore for the long weekend.  Luckily for me I don’t have to contend with the rest of Singapore fighting to get across the Tuas Checkpoint – I’m letting Tiger Airways do all the hard work for me.

I am however battling a Health Guru personal challenge.   Going to Penang alone to come face to face with the legendary street food such as  Asam Laksa, Penang Fried Kway Teow, Mui chee kai (crispy chicken simmered in plum sauce), Mamak Mee, Mee Rebus and Chendol.

So, in preparation I’ve researched ‘the damage’ each of the above would do when eating it alone.

None of them contain under 600 calories or 25g of fat.

Health Guru Note To Self:  Listen to your own advice.  It’s better to waste it than to ‘waist’ it, avoid fried foods, choose clear broth based soups, eat only until your 80% full and this would be a really good weekend to pack your exercise gear, use the hotel gym & avoid alcohol.
