Stand Up Paddling @ Sentosa

I have been talk, talk, talking about trying Stand Up Paddling for ages now. I love Dragon boating and outrigging so I knew it was going to be love – and when I finally got the opportunity to “SUP” last weekend I was like a little kid on Christmas Day.
Some Hong Kong guys from Typhoon8 came down and did a workshop at Tanjong Beach and went through some of the technique involved. But I have to say, I think technique will come a little bit later – like much later after you master standing up and staying up! The boards are 12 & 14 foot long (that’s massive if you don’t know how long a foot is) so they are quite stable, you just have to get used to trying to stand, balance, paddle, steer and did I mention balance all at the same time. Loose knees seem to work…. And the next day – I was certainly feeling it.
It was heaps of fun and I can’t wait to do it again….
Check out my paddle clubs website: Austcham Paddle Club if you’re looking for a great way to spend the weekend and meet great people I highly recommend trying paddling.
