Dance off those Calories

Posted on | February 26, 2010 | 1 Comment

CardioFunkShot2Ok party people…. I know the weekend is nearly here so I thought I’d provide some comic relief in the proactive health care department!

Most of us throw buy antibiotics online care into the wind over the weekends as we laze on the couch, relax, socialise with friends, shop, eat, drink, eat, drink, eat, drink, party and sleep in.  Un-doing all that good work throughout the week.  This is loosely termed as the 80/20 rule.  If you are good 80% of the time, 20% of overindulgence doesn’t affect you.  (Trust me, that attitude can get you into a lot of trouble)

So here’s some inspiration for this weekend.  Throw on those dancing shoes, hit the dance floor and shake your groove thing!

Dancing is fun, highly entertaining (to do and watch) and a fantastic aerobic workout.

So this weekend if you’re heading out in Singapore to Zouk or Attica – vigorous hard core techno dancing can burn off approximately 455 calories / hr.

If you’re heading to St James Powerhouse for a bit of Movida, Salsa dancing can burn off up to 315 calories / hr.

If you’re stuck in the 80′s and still listening to Air Supply, Cindy Lauper and using Jazz hands that kinda of dancing uses up to 335 calories /hr.

However, if you have a romantic weekend planned with slow ballroom dancing on the menu expect to burn off 210 calories / hr

So if you follow my advice and do hit the dance floor this weekend – don’t cancel out all that good work you’ve done on the dance floor by drinking too much alcohol.

Ha! Love it! Sadly, I’m a jazz hands dancer though – so uncool, lol….
